You know, I've heard that too about bluetooth headsets vs. wired - supposedly some wired headsets are better than others? Using a bluetooth headset as a compromise makes some sense to me (with it not in ear / in pocket, or off, when not in use, since even though it's lower emission, it's still got some).
I'm not sure anyone knows what the longterm effects of living bathed in WiFi radiation all the time will be. At the same time, we're surrounded by natural radiation anyway, to some extent. I have heard of anecdotal cases of people being extremely sensitive to WiFi radiation, in that turning off the routers / going somewhere without WiFi resolved some unexplained health issues (I should try and track down a source, but again, anecdotal).
My point was less to try to alarm people about this as an environmental hazard, and more that I found it useful to remind myself of some basic safety measures that are pretty easy to take (and ones that I hadn't really thought about before, such as not having long conversations in the car not just for driving safety, but also for potential health reasons). I'm definitely guilty of not using a headset, and I've held a cellphone near the head of a small child (which I will never do again).
