Why am I still awake? Because at what the clock said was exactly 12:00 am (or maybe 12:01 am) our doorbell rang. Sort of. We have our doorbell set to do the fairly standard "dum dum dum DUM, DUM dum dum dum" (it's late, the sequence has a name, but I can't remember it), but what we heard were four tones in the same key as the doorbell and with the exact sound of the doorbell. (In fact, I think that if you don't hit the doorbell squarely or for long enough, you won't hear the entire chime...anyway.) Both of us heard it, so even though we were both almost completely asleep, it wasn't a hallucination.

We've turned on all the lights and checked the whole house (small axe and small sword in hand, respectively - they may not be that sharp, but they're still somewhat useful) and didn't find anything. I'm now sitting in the corner of the couch and not freaking out quite so much. arawen is disturbed that his first reaction to the doorbell ringing in the middle of the night was to go downstairs, unlock and open the house door without checking, and then open the porch door as well - he won't be doing that again, I think (I just cowered at the top of the stairs).

We have no idea what happened. Our pumpkin (which sits almost directly below the doorbell) wasn't moved. arawen's best guess so far was that the solar flare somehow triggered our doorbell (which is wireless, so runs on radio waves). I'm still just scared. I wondered if this could be some sort of weird warning, but a warning of what? I really don't believe our house is haunted or anything (eep eep).

Still tired, but very awake, and very flighty, thus sitting where nothing can sneak up behind me, if there were anything to sneak. Which there isn't. *believe*
