Finally getting around to reviewing what happened from the second part of Saturday through to today...

When we last left our intrepid heroine, she was lamenting the fact that she couldn't talk to neat people that she doesn't know well, and she can't tell which people out there can't talk to her for the same reason that she can't talk to other people. All this was prompted by a day of forced (but completely voluntary) socialization at an SCA event (Falling Leaves). I did get to pretend to be a peasant during court, though, which was fun (I carried some rock-hard bread and was given chocolate!).

The rest of the day got worse from a physical standpoint, which at least was a distraction. When I play team sports, I tend to throw my whole heart and soul into it, forgetting that my body may not be able to follow (especially when I haven't been to the gym in about a month, sigh - maybe today). That combined with the hot sun, heavy medieval-esque clothing, limited food, and only some tepid water, probably gave me mild heat exhaustion. It definitely combined to give me the beginnings of what I call a migraine (I don't know what it is, really) by the time I Sebastiani started. I tried to sleep it off a bit during the show, but that probably made it worse. I thought food might help, but by the time I got to go up to the feast table, it was probably too late. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] tpau had to go back early anyway and gave me a ride, because I would have hated to keep [livejournal.com profile] laurion from the dancing (he was my ride to the event). [livejournal.com profile] tpau was great - she drove me home and even went back out to get me Advil when I couldn't find any. I drifted in and out of sleep (with a heating pad on my neck and a cold washcloth on my head) and felt much better when I woke up briefly about 11pm when [livejournal.com profile] arawen called from his journeying.

The next day, I drove out to Shrewsbury to pick up [livejournal.com profile] arawen and have brunch with [livejournal.com profile] taellosse's family. I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] ladyarren for the first time, which was very nice, and we all had brunch together. [livejournal.com profile] arawen had the most impressive blisters that I have ever seen on the backs of his heels (almost completely covering the back of his left heel from the bottom up to the ankle) and was forced to soak his feet in Epsom salts and water before leaving. On the way back, we stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond to replace a couple of baking sheets and pans that had died natural deaths. I did not know that they made baking sheets with lifetime warranties - I may never have to buy a cookie sheet again! :)

The ride back was a bit...intense, as the whole introversion / not being able to talk to people / what's wrong with me stuff that I talked about earlier sort of spilled out. Driving can do that to me - it take control of the alertness and manual skills parts of my brain, leaving the emotional / mental parts with little to do but obsess if there's something I want to obsess over. Oddly enough, my mood was also prompted by my inability to find a farm stand and [livejournal.com profile] arawen's inability to wear shoes and thus inability to visit said farm stand even if we found it (yes, irrational, I know).

Ended up going back, reading and/or sleeping, and then going out to Bread and Circus later, so everything turned out fine on the food front. BTW, Bread and Circus has Oxo cooking implements for the same price as Target (like a salad spinner - wheeee! Fun gadget that I bought after prompting from Good Eats). And the spinner actually was in stock and the salespeople were nice at Bread and Circus, neither of which was true at Target, sigh. I was able to get a nice probe thermometer at Target (again, like the one on Good Eats), which has been prompting bad jokes from my housemates. [g]

Spent much time preparing different types of lettuce for fridge storage, per Good Eats (see a trend here?). Must remember to eat salad. Lots and lots of salad. Had salad and steamed veggies (with the excellent cotswold double gloucester + chives and something else cheese suggested by the Bread and Circus cheese guy - these people know what they're talking about) and rice and stir-fried chicken in garlic and mustard seeds and oregano for dinner. Mmmmmm.

Monday was a fairly standard day up until about 5pm, when [livejournal.com profile] tpau spontaneously IMed me to see if I wanted to go see Spirited Away at the Coolidge Corner Cinema (the 10pm show there every night and the 12:15 as well a weekends is the subtitled version, which is the only way to see anime, at least for me - IMHO, if it's a foreign film, you really should see it in the original unless there's a reason you can't read subtitles). Of course I did, as did Dan and Other Dan. So [livejournal.com profile] tpau, [livejournal.com profile] learnedax, myself, Dan and Other Dan met up at my place, and we piled into my little car (5 adults! It's like a clown car! I swear it's got some special bag of holding properties going on, except that none of my friends seemed to be shifted into an alternate dimension) and off we went. The movie was fantastic (as I already journaled), and I need a picture or preferably a fuzzy of Haku in dragon form, as that was the first Japanese dragon that I've seen that I've really liked (form, head, number of legs, etc.).

Tuesday was Buffy party day, which merits its own new entry because this one is getting really long.
