Attic: Bathroom fan installed (twice, actually), waiting for electrician tonight and insulators tomorrow. Need to follow-up with guy who said he would patch the ceiling in there for cheap (cover it up with plastic or something in the meantime).
Once all this is done, all we have to do is rig together better hatches for the rare times we might need to get to the attics (weatherstripping, etc.) and we should be done with them. Yay!
Library: Ceiling down, moldy joists sprayed with high bleach concoction 2-3 times. Blueboard purchased (we have to use two sheets of 3/8 inch board to make the patch as thick as the rest of the ceiling). Need to create template and attach ceiling patch. Then we have to figure out what we want to do about joining the new board to the old plaster, but that doesn't have to be done right away.
Contractors: Electrician tonight to make our attic electric safe and hook up the two fans (we don't need a new outlet installed because there's already one there). Insulators tomorrow because they insisted - need to make sure that they put a fiberglass dam over the shower area so that we can redo that ceiling in the future if we want to (I think the previous owners tiled over normal sheetrock), fiberglass dam over the new ceiling patch in the library, add venting to the addition roof, and run the exhaust pipe for the new bathroom fan through the roof. Exterminator was supposed to come sometime this week - hopefully he'll leave his card so we know he's been here. Handyperson needs to be called to come work on the bathroom ceiling patch and install the range hood.
Then all this turmoil will be done for a while!
Next house projects (comparatively minor, hopefully): Clean old basement floor. Clean out washer and dryer. Install washer and dryer. Move huge tool chest into old basement. Start organizing tools. Assemble power tools. Create workbench, new front stairs to the basement?
Also, need to clean the house in general and draino the tub and spray the downstairs bathroom studs with bleach. And get my car an oil change, but that's not really house related, and until tomorrow, everything's about the house.
