Apr. 25th, 2005 10:09 pmI wanted to update my journal, but now that I'm actually doing so, I can't think of what to say, or how to say it. So I will babble.
Um...um...last weekend. Last Saturday I did some video work (finally) - creating one dvd and deleting some old files. I will get this done, darn it, and soon. I also watched some random stuff and went out to get a smoothie to try to get my head to feel better (weather). After
arawen came back from visiting his family up in NH (I didn't go because of video work), we watched more of Haibane Thingy (aka Haibane-Renmei), which I will discuss more below.
Sunday we cleaned somewhat and I exercised somewhat and I think something else happened but I'm not sure, and then
keshwyn came over to talk about speakers for her new DDR center and we didn't go to Best Buy but instead went to look for speakers at CompUSA (5 minute away) but they no longer have them (not a surprise). (That was a very long sentence.) Then we sat around in massive indecision and wound up going to Picante in Davis Square for dinner. It was pretty good but I was a little sad that all their veggie items were zucchini + mushrooms (
arawen reminded me later that I could have asked if the mushrooms were optional, but I didn't realize that at the time and there were people behind me in line). They have extremely hot pico de gallo salsa. Then we came back, and I talked to my parents for a while, and talked to
arawen for a while and tried to be helpful.
Anime update: The last two anime shows that we watched were Here is Greenwood (6 episodes, although I think slightly longer ones than usual) and Haibane-Renmei (13 episodes). I thought both of them were quite good - Here is Greenwood not quite as much just because it was a little more disjointed / episodic for the first 4 episodes, although still enjoyable and I think necessary to fully appreciate episodes 5-6. It was a nice heavy comedy / crazy school life show without going over the too comedic line for me, and less comic at the end. Haibane-Renmei (on my top favorites list at the moment) was gorgeous and extremely thought-provoking and definitely not a comedy. It reminded me a lot of Someday's Dreamers, although from what I can tell, Haibane-Renmei is much more consistently acclaimed (at least in the animeondvd forums).
I could write more detailed reviews but I'm always afraid of spoiling something, and I generally feel like my reviews either end up stilted or sounding like part of a grade school book report.
Other things are about the same. The windows came, so we can start working on those soon. Once we finish with the windows and painting the outside of the house, pretty much all the major repairs will be done (well, except for the downstairs bathroom, and making lots and lots of bookcases, and finally getting rid of the nasty wallpaper, and maybe some new interior doors, and...yeah. At least nothing I can think of is big except maybe the bathroom).
Today I came home from work and made soup - very very good vegetable soup in plain broth (Rapunzel low salt boullion cubes) + mild spices (lemon-pepper, orange peel, oregano, italian seasoning, fresh-ground pepper, plus garlic and ginger of course, and decent olive oil). I was so happy with that soup - it was exactly what I wanted. :) And now, since I'm trying to be supportive of
arawen learning to get up on time, I am putting this away and going to bed.
