job change preparation!
Jul. 11th, 2005 09:52 pmTwo days to go and counting before I'm done.
1) Check on how my current health plan handles COBRA, just in case.
2) Get prescription drugs from drugstore, because they won't be covered by insurance when I actually need a refill later in the month.
3) Check what I need to do about selling the rest of my stock options.
4) Remove personal files from work computers.
5) Remember to bring work laptop and accessories to work (keeping the wireless card, because I paid for that).
6) Remember to bring personal items home from work.
7) Try to find my key card in case they get upset that I don't know where it is.
8) Go to lunch with a couple of the people who have made wistful noises in my direction.
9) Send out an e-mail to the whole local team so that they can come by and make awkward statements of parting in my direction.
10) Maybe bring in a camera to take pictures of people before I go.
That was rather longer than I expected. (This is the first time I've left an actual fulltime job, so if you've dealt with this sort of thing before, please let me know if I've missed anything.)

Date: 2005-07-12 02:48 am (UTC)Make sure the people who need to have access to your machines do; this might include giving people passwords, or changing passwords to known ones, or...
Give folks an email address to contact you, if they want. If you want. :P
There will be crap you forgot you had at your desk; I recommend bringing a crate or box or somesuch.
Good luck!
