It's been a very frustrating day. The training itself is very useful and moving along well, as the guy who's leading it is very knowledgeable. However, I was told that I didn't need to make any preparations for the training, which was completely untrue, at least for my machine. I have spent the day working on setting up a VMWare image (with the badly needed help of some others) that has networking, Win2k server + sp2, etc. At least I had a base image, so I didn't actually have to install Win2K itself. Now that training for the day is over, I am ready to start installing everything that we installed today. I'll probably do that while watching the American Idol finals tonight.

In between training bits, I started looking for things to do in Seattle if I end up having some free time in the evening. I still have to track down my friend's phone number and see if we can meet for coffee (this being Seattle) or something.

There may be more Starbucks in the Seattle area than there are Dunkin' Donuts in the Boston area (we could literally see two from the same spot by looking in opposite directions at one point)! At least there seem to be a number of other coffee chains and even independent coffee shops in the area as well, versus the almost total lack of little donut shops in Massachusetts (at least that I know of).

Anyway, Pike Place Market, which was highly recommended, closes at 6pm, so I don't think I'll be able to get there on this trip. Some of my coworkers may try and get to the Space Needle or other attractions, which should be fun. I also looked to see if there were any used bookstores or anime stores or gaming stores in the area, and I found out that there is an actual Wizards of the Coast store in Bellevue, and not just anywhere in Bellevue, but in the mall that is across the street from my hotel! I'll have to check it out. :)
