This is sort of advertising - I really hope people don't mind (if you do, please let me know - if something like this ever comes up again, I'll make sure not to include you).

*please, take my books*

[livejournal.com profile] arawen and I have over 500 books to get rid of that have been accumulating slowly in our basement (library bag sales, free cartons of random books, duplicates, etc.). Some are really good books that we already have, and some are rather silly.

I was going to mention this to everyone I know and have people come over and pick through the books, but time is kind of running out for organizing something like that, so I'm listing them all on craigslist in hopes of finding people who want them (we'll probably end up donating the rest somewhere). But I wanted to let you all know that they're available and that people I know get first priority (and almost all books no cost, although donations are happily accepted) if there's anything in there that you want. (Check the science fiction and fantasy list first, if you like that stuff - there are some very nice books in there.) I put asterisks by some of the nicer books (at least content-wise), so if you're interested, you can search on "*".

If anyone wants to come over and browse, just let me know - [livejournal.com profile] laurion has some books to give away also which aren't on the list. If you're far away and still want something, let me know - I will ship if you want (you'll have to pay the actual shipping costs, but they shouldn't be too high).

Out of the sci-fi/fantasy list, can I get A Sending of Dragons (Yolen) and the Meredith Ann Pierce?

Books!

Can I get these (off the SciFi/Fan list)? I won't necessarily keep them, but I'll almost certainly read them at least once. :)

Off the sci-fi/fantasy list, these caught my eye:

Alexander, Lloyd - Book of Three, The 1964
Alexander, Lloyd - High King, The 1968
Alexander, Lloyd - Westmark 1981 discard
Asimov, Isaac - Foundation and Empire 1952
Asimov, Isaac - I, Robot 1950
Asimov, Isaac - Second Foundation 1953
Le Guin, Ursula K. - Wizard of Earthsea, A 1968
McCaffrey, Anne - Damia's Children 1993
McCaffrey, Anne - Dragonsdawn 1988 hb / dj discard (reading copy)
McCaffrey, Anne - Lyon's Pride 1994 discard
McCaffrey, Anne - Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern discard
Niven, Larry - Ringworld Engineers, The 1980 discard

I don't have time right now to scan through the other lists, but maybe later. If there's anything else, I'll let you know. The real problem here is that I don't expect to be out there again until after you guys are gone from your current place. Maybe the Dans could hold them for me? Or you could ship them over to me. Just seems silly to do that when I'd be out there in early September anyway, most likely.

I'd like these if nobody else does. Also, I couldn't tell from titles which where romance, which were Western, and which were mystery, but I'll take any mystery that are left over at the end if that's ok.

Asimov, Isaac - Universe, The: From Flat Earth to Quasar 1966
Eco, Umberto - Foucault's Pendulum 1988
Eco, Umberto - Name of the Rose, The 1980
Fausto-Sterling, Anne - Myths of Gender: Biological Theories about Women and Men 1985 hb / dj discard
Laughlin, Florence - Little Leftover Witch, The 1960
Thomas, Lewis - Lives of a Cell, The: Notes of a Biology Watcher 1974
Thomas, Lewis - Medusa and the Snail, The: More Notes of a Biology Watcher 1979 hb / dj discard
x - Scandinavian Cooking 1976 hb discard
